Glycol is poured into a very well insulated container into which an electric heater and a paddle wheel (for gentle stirring) are inserted. The power of the immersion heater and the temperature of glycol are recorded as functions of time.

The stuff on top of the container looking like foam is a fat wad of cotton used to insulate the lid.
