6 | Pohl's Pendulum: Damped and driven rotational oscillator |
Description | Pohl's pendulum is a torsion pendulum with a rotating copper wheel connected to a torsion spring. The wheel can be slowed down with the help of an eddy current brake. Moreover, a sinusoidal mechanical drive can be applied. The equipment can be used to study resonance. Experiment 1: Damped oscillation. Experiment 2: Damped and driven oscillation. |

7 | Collisions in a single dimension |
Description | Gliders move on a horizontal air track and collide. Velcro attached to the colliding ends, springs, and springs with putty lead to diferent types of collisions. Data for several cases is presented. In Experiment 3, a glider collides with a second; after the collision, the gliders are linked and move together as one. In Experiment 15, two gliders collide with elastic springs between them. However, there is a small piece of putty at the end of one of the springs. |
