Relation between volume current and volume (quantity of fluid) transported:

V_e: transported volume (volume exchanged). If the current is constant, the quantity transported is calculated simply by

     V_e = I_V*delta_t ,     delta_t = t_2 – t_1

Relation between volume currents (with respect to a system) and the rate of change of volume of that system (law of balance of volume):

     dV/dt = I_V1 + I_V2 + I_V3 + …

If a fluid is flowing into a system, the volume current (volume flux) is given a positive value.
