GLOSSARY
CONDUCTANCE (HYDRAULIC )

Description
The factor relating the resistive pressure difference to the flow of a fluid in the case of laminar flow. It is equal to the slope of the straight line in the flow characteristic. It is the inverse of the flow resistance.
Symbols
G_V
Relations
The characteristic line with the larger slope has the larger value of the conductance.
Units
[G_V] = m^3/(s·Pa)
Synonyms
flow factor
Related to
hydraulic resistance, laminar flow laws, Hagen and Poiseuille, conductive transport, resistive pressure difference,
Remarks
In the case of laminar flow through circular pipes, the hydraulic conductance is calculated according to the law of Hagen and Poiseuille:
delta_pR: resistive pressure difference, r: radius or pipe, eta: viscosity of fluid, l: length of pipe.
