GLOSSARY
HYDRAULIC RESISTANCE

Description
The hydraulic resistance (or simply flow resistance) is the inverse of the hydraulic conductance: R_V = 1/G_V.
Symbols
R_V
Relations
The characteristic line with the larger slope has the smaller value of the resistance.
Units
[R_V] = Pa·s/m^3
Synonyms
flow resistance
Related to
hydraulic conductance, laminar flow laws, conductive transport, resistive transport, Ohm's law
Remarks
In the case of laminar flow through circular pipes, the hydraulic resistance is calculated according to the law of Hagen and Poiseuille:
delta_pR: resistive pressure difference, r: radius or pipe, eta: viscosity of fluid, l: length of pipe.
